I did it – a second book – this one about PSP – Happy New Year

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I am delighted to share that I have just completed and received approval for publication of both paperback and Kindle editions of my personal story of living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, together with the experiences of a couple of very kind caregivers. I believe this book will be an invaluable guide for anyone touched by PSP, or indeed by any major adversity. It paints a picture of the pain and challenge, but also the courage and resilience needed to cope with this terminal condition.

The book will be available soon, and I hope you will buy it and help spread the message. This is not for personal gain, as all my royalties will be donated to one or more PSP charities to be decided. To ensure full transparency, I will be reporting the profits back through this blog so everyone can see exactly where the money will be going. My aim is to promote advocacy and improve treatment for both patients and caregivers.

This blog is not intended to sell the book, but rather to reflect on the journey. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to publish two books, each in less than a week, thanks to the bank of material I have built up from blogging. Achieving this twice is something I never thought possible. It is proof, as Viktor Frankl wrote after surviving three concentration camps, that “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms, to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances.”

I am stubborn, and I promised myself I would get this done by the end of the week. I have, and I am proud of what I have written. I want to thank the proofreaders and contributors who helped along the way. Now, I will be returning to blogging, and I hope you will buy, share, and recommend the book on my behalf. It is deliberately short, hopefully accessible, and at times even humorous.

I received many suggestions for the title, but in the end I chose “Weathering the Storm: Living Fully with PSP.” The book will be available soon in Kindle and Amazon stores, as will be my first book, which was published just weeks ago.

Thank you for your support, and wishing you all a Happy New Year.

Hello! I am Ben Lazarus

Originally diagnozed with Parkinson’s it has sadly turned into PSP a more aggressive cousin. I am 50 and have recently retired but enough of the sob story – I am a truly blessed person who would not swap with anyone on the planet, principally because I have the best wife and kids in the world (I am of course completely objective :-)). Anyway I am recording via the Blog my journey as therapy to myself, possibly to give a glimpse into my life for others who deal with similar situations and of course those who know me.
