An evening without Parkinson’s

Just half a tablet - feels great!

It is the holiday season for so many. I am lucky that the 24th December is the birthday of my now 22 year old twin son and daughter and the 4th January that of my soon to be 15 year old daughter.

I was reflecting on the dinner the 5 of us had last night to celebrate. It struck me…it was pretty much absent any mention or real presence of Parkinson’s. The elephant was basically not there at least to me and I think and hope to my wife and kids.

We chatted, laughed, relaxed, ate and drunk and of course checked our phones:-) and we had a pleasant drive there and back and a nice walk. It was not only not on the center of the stage, it was at the very side (the pump was working with one boost), not even a morbid joke about it…

It was such a peaceful evening for me and PD was the fantastic unnoticed thing and with whatever is to come I will bank that in my record of awesome and moments I am eternally grateful for.

As my late neurologist Professor Giladi said: “Try to make PD a part of your life, not your life”. Last night we did that.

Who knows what’s to come but that is all of us.

Wishing you Happy Holidays

Ps I won’t let a ballistic missile alert ruin it

Hello! I am Ben Lazarus

Originally diagnozed with Parkinson’s it has sadly turned into PSP a more aggressive cousin. I am 50 and have recently retired but enough of the sob story – I am a truly blessed person who would not swap with anyone on the planet, principally because I have the best wife and kids in the world (I am of course completely objective :-)). Anyway I am recording via the Blog my journey as therapy to myself, possibly to give a glimpse into my life for others who deal with similar situations and of course those who know me.
